Walker's Farm Stand, 6x8 oil on board

This is a farm stand down the road from where I live. All summer long they lure visitors in with gorgeous flowers, lucious fruits, herbs and the best corn around. It's a favorite stop on the way to the beach! The colors 'pop' a bit more in real life, am struggling with Photoshop! I painted this between last night and noon today at my friend Nancy's studio. Always great to have another 'eye' to keep you on track!

Sunset over Bristol, Oil on Board, 6x8

This is sunset view of Bristol, RI from the north end of Aquidneck Island. I'd love to say on a clear night there is reflected orange light in the water - but there isn't! Mt. Hope Bridge is in the background.

Party Shoes, 5x7 oil on board

This painting was inspired by my friend Pam Copeman, who is extremely stylish and pulled together, and who loves paintings of shoes. (I mean we ALL love shoes, right?) I love the contrast between the little fur balls and the satin shoe, throw in a honking big fake diamond - do I hear champagne?

Eat At Max's, Acrylic on canvas, 6x6

This is my souvenier from San Francisco, from last year when I took a workshop with Camille Przewodek. We had breakfast at Max's with our friends Kevin and Linda there. Max's is, I guess, a sort of famous little restaurant, and you can buy the coffee cups. Along with stones, shells, seaglass and pie plates I clutter my house with special coffee cups. This one's the perfect size!

Tugboat on the Sakonnet, Acrylic on Board 4x5

This is a tiny painting, but when I photographed it, it enlarged it and shows all the 'grain' of the canvas! The other morning just before 7 a.m. I was having coffee, looking down the river, and I saw this red tug tearing past Gould Island. It was very heavy air, very moist, and Aquidneck Island was barely visable in the background. This is one of those pieces that looks better in real life, the photo doesn't do it justice. Oh, well.

Lilies II, Acrylic on Canvas, 6x6

This is going to be a companion piece to yesterday's painting. Feeling very 'flowery' lately, must be Spring! I may turn these paintings into larger pieces, just enjoying the colors.

The Other Penny, Acrylic on Canvas, 6x6

I love this Chinese Proverb: "When you have only two pennies left, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other". This stalk of lilies was just a stick with uninspiring buds when I bought it on Sunday (yes, it cost more than one penny!), but they bloomed and seem to reach out to give, not receive joy. I had to paint them.

One of Each, 6x12 Oil on Bristol Board

SOLD Went over to Coggeshall Farm last week and found a meadow filled with animals. Sheep, a burro, some sort of ox and a horse. The colors were all muted, and the wind was up, so I took a photo and painted from it yesterday. The sheep still had good heavy coats, which was a good thing, seeing as it's been pretty cold lately!

Orange You Cute! Acrylic on Board, 5x7

Found these tiny onions in the produce section of the market. They're squat and smooth and they looked so good on a sheet of orange tissue paper! The shadow sides are what intrigued me.

Follow The Leader, Acrylic on Canvas, 6x12

The lovely colors and shapes just pull me to paint them. But is everyone really sick of pears? Something new tomorrow!

You may have noticed I had to adjust the colors a bit - my husband prefers the previous, more yellow-y colors... do you??

Sally's Geraniums, Oil on Canvas 5x7

I painted these a month or so ago, but the paint was so shiny it wouldn't photograph well! I don't paint flowers often, so this was a challenge. Feel free to leave comments, I love to read them! And if you're a subscriber, you can now 'respond' and only I will get the response! :)

One Pair, 6x6 Acrylic on Canvas

Driving to Newport this morning in the snow, I took many photos with the intention of painting a nice winter scene as the storm swirled around me back at home. I had stopped at the grocer's and when I got home I plopped the green pears on some gorgeous blue tissue paper that was on the counter.... forget about the snow scenes - maybe later!

Dreaming of Holland, Acrylic 5x7

Happy Birthday to me! I let myself dream of my upcoming trip to Holland, with my friends Paula, Ros and Sandy... and I painted it! Six weeks from today - yay~ we'll be painting the tulip fields in Haarlem. It's becoming real.

Golden Key, Acrylic 5x7

Tried and tried to paint the treasures Tim brought home from a walk on the beach, but nothing was working. So I painted this key I've been saving in a red bowl made from crushed seashells.

Oh... Fortuna! Oil, 6x6

I like this one better than the previous fortune cookie daily painting. I think the composition's better, paint application more interesting. And I always love reading the 'fortune'!

Waterlily, Oil 6x12

This waterlily is from San Juan Capistrano Mission, where they have a beautiful garden and gorgeous lily pond fountain with koi. I am attracted to the simplicity of the lilies and the wonderful shapes and colors of the lilypads.
This painting is for sale, though I will not be listing it on eBay, simply email me for information, I'll be happy to get back to you quickly!

Haymarket Peppers, 6x6 Acrylic

Conor brought these peppers home for me to paint. Talk about personality! They had such beautiful shapes and multiple shades of yellow, orange and red. They're just fun!

Full Moon Over The River, 8x10 Oil

Last night Tim and I went for a drive and the moon was just massive and golden, suspended over Fall River, MA. It was surreal, yet romantic. It made me feel like anything could happen, like magic. I had to paint it today. The photo, once again, has a lot of glare due to the wet oil paint.

There's One In Every Crowd, Oil 6x8

SOLD
I was thinking of Carol Marine's wonderful paintings (see link on the right side of the blog) and I had these apples and one of them 'stood up' better if it was on it's 'head', hence the title. It was so great to use these colors, and the paint was very wet when I took the photo... nothing I did could get rid of the glare. Later, when it's dry, I'll try to repost a better, less shiny photo.

Starbucks Coffee Break, 6x6, Oil

This new cup and saucer from the ORIGINAL Starbucks in Seattle is a gift. I love the creamy white of the cup and the purply shadows. OK, I love Starbucks coffee, too!

Oh! My Sushi! Acrylic 6x6

Tim's favorite lunch. I stole a couple to paint! Had to fight Harry (the cat) for ownership. I love the avocado colors. OK, so I still don't actually eat them...
